Turns out I’m an app developer now.
So … I got tired of reaching for my phone to do the same calculations over and over in the shop. As a woodworker and engineer, I kept wanting one place with the tools I actually reach for — not a bloated app full of things I’d never use, just the essentials, done right.
So I built it.
Woodworker’s Toolbox is an inexpensive iOS app. No subscription, no ads, and works offline.
Here’s what’s in it:
- Board feet calculator — for buying and estimating lumber
- Fraction arithmetic — because shop math lives in fractions
- Drill bit + pilot hole guides — the right bit, every time
- Wood species database — Janka hardness, shrinkage, and movement data for the species you’re actually working with
- Wood hardness chart — with lbf/kN toggle
- Wood shrinkage chart — colour-coded stability ratings at a glance
- Species expansion matcher — for mixed-species joinery where movement matters
- Wood movement calculator — plan for seasonal movement before it surprises you
