Woodworker’s Toolbox v1.4: Pocket Holes
Hi, it’s me again!
A bit of news from the shop’s other workbench — the digital one. I just pushed a big update to Woodworker’s Toolbox, the app I built for the kind of math we all end up doing at the bench.
The headline this time is metric. You can now run the whole app in millimeters — every calculator and every reference, not just a couple. Imperial isn’t going anywhere; metric’s just a toggle now, so you can work in whatever system you actually use.
A few other things in this update:
- A new pocket hole tool — tell it your material and thickness and it gives you the right screw length and thread type. It even handles two different thicknesses, which the usual charts skip right over.
- The wood species database grew to 280 species, with more coverage across Europe, Africa, and beyond — Janka hardness, shrinkage, and movement for each one.
